XXXTENTACION | XXX(Unmastered) | Vice City | Boom Bap, Emo Rap, Old School | 2014 | First album I'm putting up here, this album honestly means so much to me. Probably my favorite X album. | Datpiff Link |
XXXTENTACION | Ice Hotel EP | SOUNDS OF THE MELTING POT | Cloud Rap | 2014 | Collaboration project between X, $ki Mask The Slump God, and "drugz". IIRC, X wanted this to sound like an Ice Hotel, icy n stuff. He did a good job on this. | Datpiff Link |
XXXTENTACION | Heartbreak Hotel EP | Skin | Emo Rap, Cloud Rap | 2015 | Dark sounding EP, has a mysterious vibe to it... another great album by X. | Datpiff Link |
SPACEGHOSTPURRP | NASA GANG THE MIXTAPE | FRIDAY STRIP CLUB | Cloud Rap, Phonk | 2010 | Low quality, addicitve sound. SGP is a genius but he could never achieve mainstream success sadly. He is the inventor of new phonk and heavily influenced the cloud rap scene, especially in Florida. RVIDXR KLVN 4 LIFE. Also, according to SGP in his Nardwuar interview, NASA stands for "N****s And Stupid A**holes" | Datpiff Link |
Lil B | 6 kiss | IM GOD | Cloud Rap, Meme Rap | 2009 | Heavily influential cloud rap album. After all, Lil B kinda did kick-start the genre. If you're wondering why this is here, its because without Lil B you probably wouldn't be listeing to your favorite rapper right now. Look it up. | iTunes Link |
MC Chris | FOREVERRR | FOREVERRR | Nerd Rap, Nerdcore, White Rap, Electronic | 2014 | MC Chris is at the forefront of nerd-rap and in this album he gets a little more emotional and really goes all-out. (also trust me with the expensive bandcamp link, the total on iTunes is higher). | Bandcamp Link |
Lil Peep | Part One | It's Me | Cloud rap, emo rap | 2015 | My favorite Lil Peep album. Pretty good for its time and though you might argue that "It's Me" is not the best song on there, its alright, its just my favorite from the album. Also putting the bandcamp link here but you're probably gonna pirate it so... | Bandcamp Link |
Lil Peep | Crybaby | White Tee | Cloud rap, emo rap | 2016 | Another great Peep album that you should listen to. Not much to say besides its a really good album. | iTunes Link |

Saosin | TRANSLATING THE NAME | Seven Years | Emo, Emocore, Post-hardcore, Screamo, Third Wave Emo | 2014 | Saosin is the band that got me into emo. This is a solid album, and allegedly changed post-hardcore forever. Either way, Saosin is definitely an underrated emo band! | iTunes Link |
Sunny Day Real Estate | Diary | Seven | Emo, Emocore, Grunge, Indie, Midwest Emo, Second Wave Emo | 1994 | You just can't have emo without Sunny Day Real Estate, they spearheaded the second-wave emo movement and made the emo national anthem! | iTunes Link |
American Football | LP1 | Never Meant | Emo, Math Rock, Indie, Midwest Emo, Second Wave Emo | 1999 | On second thought, you can't have emo without Americ AnFootball, so take this! Its kinda overrated but sometimes when you're in the mood for some crappy twinkly guitar riffs this is like the best album out there. I can hardly find anything else like this, enjoy! | Bandcamp Link |
Midwest Pen Pals | Inside Jokes | Movies Like Juno | Emo, Math Rock, Indie, Midwest Emo, Fourth Wave Emo | 2009 | This whole album is amazing, if you're in the right mood. Otherwise this is as Mid as their name suggests. But seriously this is an emo masterpiece, really strikes nostalgia in you. | Sophie's Floorboard |
Empire! Empire! (I was a lonely estate) | What it takes to move forward | An idea is a greater monument than a cathedral | Emo, Math Rock, Indie, Midwest Emo, Fourth Wave Emo, emoromance | 2009 | This is another emo masterpiece. The only thing wrong with this band is that you might not like how they sound or the fact that they don't have the greatest production quality. Despite that, this is still one of my favorite albums ever. | Bandcamp Link |
pageninetynine | Document #8 | In Love With An Apparition | Emo, Emocore, Hardcore punk, screamo, skramz, emoviolence | 2001 | Really morbid band. But if you're into loud music, you'll probably love them. | Bandcamp Link |
Penfold | Amateurs & Professionals | I'll take you everywhere | Emo, Midwest emo, Indie, second wave emo, emoromance | 1998 | This is another REALLY great album. And btw Penfold, Empire! Empire!, Mineral, and bands like those that I mentioned have a unique sound that I don't really classify as "midwest". I'll keep their midwest emo label, but I'm coining the term "emoromance" for that specific sound. And yes, its a play on the "emoviolence" tag that a lot of loud emo bands have. | Bandcamp Link |
Indian Summer | Science 1994 | Angry Son/ Sleeping/ WoolWorm | Emo, Emocore, Screamo, Hardcore | 1994 | I love this album for its hardcore sense and for everything in "angry son". They change the names of these songs a lot but still overall a good listen. | Bandcamp Link |
Moss Icon | Complete Discography | I'm Back Sleeping or F***ing or Something | Emo, Emocore, Hardcore, Screamo, 1st wave emo | 1988- 1994 | Their complete discography was actually released in 2012, but all their songs are from 1998-1994. This still is a really good album to be angry to, and Moss Icon is probably the best 1st wave emo band IMO. | Bandcamp Link |
The Hotelier | Home, Like Noplace There Is | The Scope of All of This Rebuilding | Emo, Indie, Midwest Emo, 4th Wave emo, Emo Revival | 2014 | Taking inspiration from other midwest emo and pop-punk bands, this is the clear link between normal midwest emo and Origami Angel. This isn't a good listen at first, but when you're in the mood, this really grows on you over time. Has a drowsy feeling for the most part, but still remains pretty good, overrated, but good. | Bandcamp Link |
Make Me | 2004 Demo | Let's Go Off On A Tangent | Emo, Emocore, Punk, Midwest Emo, Screamo, Skramz, underground, Mallcore, 3rd wave emo | 2004 | This band has a bad-ass name but a really poppy sound. I thought these guys would be leaning more towards hardcore punk, but they're more of a twinkly screamo band than punk. And if you're into midwest screamo and twinkly guitars, this might be the band for you. | Bandcamp Link |
The Khayembii Communiqué | S/T | AM1200 | Emo, Emocore, Hardcore, Screamo, Skramz, Acoustic | 1999 | Reminicent of Make Me and Merchant Ships, but more hardcore and more screamy. Really great screamo band and I really appreciate it. | Sophie's Floorboard |
Split Lip | For the Love of the Wounded | For the Love of a Wounded Woman | Emo, Emocore, Post-Hardcore, 1st wave emo | 1993 | According to my sources, you can blame these guys for the creation of midwest-emo, influencing it heavily apparently. You can hear it in their melodic, twinkly guitarwork that's used in 2nd wave midwest emo. But besides that, this band really pulls me in sometimes and their sound is addictive. | iTunes Link |
Orchid | Chaos Is Me | New Jersey vs. Valhalla | Emo, Emoviolence, Powerviolence, Grindcore, Skramz, Screamo | 1999 | You can hear the pain in the screams in each song in this album. Its really great. High playability too. As of right now (4/15/2022), this is my top artist on Last.fm. Just shows you how good/bad it is (hey, I'm being self-aware!) Anyways choose this, pg.99, or saetia because thats how it usually goes down. | iTunes Link |
Neil Perry | Lineage Situation | Sorry For The Misunderstanding Mr. Watts, It Won't Happen Again | Emo, Emoviolence, Hardcore, Emoviolence, Powerviolence, Metal, Heavy Metal, Skramz, Screamo | 2003 | Neil Perry's discography is wayyyy too long to do a review for each so I'll just say check out their entire discography (which is mainly full with splits with other emo bands), and check out their improv jams. Trust me, they're great. And if you like this, you might also like Joshua Fit For Battle, it has the same members in it. | Sophie's Floorboard |
I Have Dreams | Three Days Til' Christmas | I Don't Imagine You And I Anymore | Emo, Screamo, Skramz, Hardcore, Heavy Metal, Metalcore, Mall-emo | 1999 | Even if you don't like the band, you at least gotta respect it. This band was formed straight out of another band by the name of "New Ethic" when one of their guitarists died. Obviously, this was a heavy and tragic loss for the band because most, if not, all of the songs on this album were about that friend. With that context in mind it sounds less screamy, and more like a heartbreaking cry out to their deceased friend in the afterlife. The way they express their emotions so clearly and vividly just really make them one of the most emo emo bands. Another thing I love about this band is the way they combined metal elements with the hardcore-rooted emo genre. Not only that, but they give off a mall-emo vibe as well (you know what I mean). And as you can tell from this lengthy review, this is one of my favorite bands. They put out only five songs and yet, they're one of my top artists on Last.fm. Just shows how good these guys were at this band. | Sophie's Floorboard |
Audience of One | I Remember When This All Meant Something | Saosin | Emo, Screamo, Midwest Emo, 2nd wave emo, Anthony Green, Post-Hardcore, Hardcore, | 1999 | Another band which blatantly rips off the Sunny Day Real Estate/ 2nd Wave midwest emo sound, but also keeps true to the first wave of emo. Sounds like Sunny Day Real Estate mixed with Indian Summer and Closure (oh shoot forgot to put these guys in, well, they're next lol). Pretty good and worth a listen if you're into emo. | iTunes Link |
Closure | S/T | KM | Emo, Screamo, Hardcore, Post-Hardcore, Punk | 1997 | Ok. The guitars on this are insane, hard to find anywhere else. KM is another emo masterpiece that you should listen to if you're interested in the genre. Do mind the link though, take your own precautions. | Blogspot Link |
Seahaven | Winter Forever | It's Over | Emo, Emocore, Punk, Indie | 2011 | This album was way better than I expected and I'm actually not even finished listening to it while listening to it. Reminicent of old-school emocore with a tint of more modern indie. | Bandcamp Link |
Still Life | The Madness and the Gackle | Old English Eight-Hundred | Emo, Emocore, Screamo, Emotive Hardcore, Punk, Post-Hardcore | 1995 | This was easier to get into than the "From Angry Heads..." album, but I'll listen to that one next. But this one is just amazing. | iTunes Link |
Old Gray | Slow Burn | Blunt Trauma | Emo, Screamo, Skramz, 4th Wave Emo, Noise, Emoviolence | 2016 | I have no idea why I used to hate them, but this is fucking legendary holy shit. This is some really great skramz and I might just check out "Demo" again. | BandCamp Link |
Old Gray | Demo | Vulcan Death Grip | Emo, Screamo, Skramz, 4th Wave Emo, Midwest Emo, Noise | 2011 | Sadder, better, and more emo than I remember. Pretty cool. FFO Merchant Ships, Reasons, & Oh My God Elephant. | BandCamp Link |
Planes Mistaken for Stars | Self Titled | The Past Two | Emo, Midwest Emo, Second Wave Emo, 90's Emo | 1999 | IIRC, this was the first band to get called "emo" by its own record label, not sure, don't quote me on that. (edit) THE "BEST SONG" ON HERE IS FUCKING PERFECT GO LISTEN TO IT NOWWW!!!!! | iTunes Link |
You and I | The Curtain Falls | 143 (JCM) | Emo, Screamo, Emocore, Pop-Punk, Hardcore | 1999 | 143 JCM... one of emo's masterpieces. Okok I think these guys went on to form Neil Perry, don't quote me on that either tho lol. | Bandcamp Link |
Thursday/ Envy | Split | In Silence | Emo, Post-Hardcore, Screamo | 2008 | Only putting this up because of "In Silence". | iTunes Link |

My Chemical Romance | Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge | Ghost of You | Post-hardcore, Progressive punk, pop-punk, mall-emo, mallcore, Hard Rock | 2004 | To spite everyone and everything, this is first on "punk". And if it weren't for those edgy mallcore kids labeling this as "emo", I would honestly listen to this way more. I really don't need to go on a rant about how they aren't emo, its because of lyrics and presentation. They're a good band and its a good album but its not emo. Sooooo loooong and goooodniiiiightt (thats helena but whatever). | iTunes Link |
Unwanted Superheroes | You don't need this as bad as I do. | Read Between The Lines | Post-hardcore, pop-punk, mall-emo, acoustic, mallcore | 2004 | Since I'm in the mood for another mallcore/ mall-emo band, here's Unwanted Superheroes. I personally don't like the acoustic songs in this album but everything about this really reminds me of the 2000's mall-emo scene which I'm half-secretly nostagic for. | iTunes Link |
My Chemical Romance | I brought you my bullets, but you brought me your love | Drowning Lessons | Post-hardcore, Post-punk, Punk, Pop-Punk, Hardcore punk, mall-emo, mallcore, emo | 2002 | This is the only MCR album I'm willing to consider "emo". It has a few emo songs, but for most of the songs, they don't really play out/ sound like an emo song should. Overall, a really great album tbh. Pretty consistent with their sound too. | iTunes Link |
Aloha From Hell | No More Days to Waste | Walk Away | Pop-Punk, emo, mall-emo, scene, scenecore, myspace emo, emotional, punk | 2009 | Really good pop-punk/ scenecore band from Germany. It sounds like a really good mix of fake emo and real emo, leaning on both sides so I'm kinda split on this one of wether or not I should label it as "emo". Either way this band is really good, too bad they only had one release before disappearing. | iTunes Link |
A Vain Attempt | Love is Like Suicide | You Broke My Heart | Metalcore, post-hardcore, mall-screamo, mall-emo, myspace emo | 2007 | Not much to say, its metalcore in its purest form and classic mall-emo. | iTunes Link |
From First to Last | Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count | Emily | Mall-emo, Metalcore, Post-Hardcore, mall-screamo, Myspace emo | 2004 | Embarassed to say that I loved this. Fkn amazing. Also either "Emily" or "Note to Self" can be the best song on here, Emily just really strikes your emotions harder. | iTunes Link |

Mason | You were supposed to be beautiful | My Mexican Nightmare | Post-hardcore, Sasscore | 2005 | This is another really great band that I don't think has enough attention on them. They're a really special band but just something about them feels like its meant for underground. So if you like screams and energetic music, this is probably for you. | Dropbox Link |
The Vandals | Hitler Bad, Vandals Good | My Girlfriend's Dead | Punk, Pop-Punk, Indie | 1998 | Wait- was this really released on the first day of 1998? Anyways I only started listening to this because the album cover art was pretty sick, kinda disappointed but hey, you might like it. | iTunes Link |
Score 24 | I'm Happy to Say That... | Let's Go Sailing | Pop-Punk, Punk, Indie | 2009 | Good ol' 2000's Pop-Punk, its heartwarming honestly and better than I expected. For fans of Blink-182 and MyChem for sure. | iTunes Link |

Hot Water Music | Fuel for The Hate Game | 220 years | Hardcore, emo-adjacent | 1997 | r/emo still thinks this band is emo. | iTunes Link |
The Pist | Ideas Are Bulletproof | Ideas are bulletproof? | Hardcore punk | 1995 | Low production quality, but pretty addicting LP. This whole album is really anti-racism anti-sexism and really had me feeling like I needed to get up and do something at the end of it. Also don't worry about the download link, punks are just angry nice people. | Download |
Nation of Ulysses | Plays Pretty For Baby | N-Sub Ulysses | Post-hardcore, Emo-Adjacent, Punk, Hardcore Punk, Jazz | 1992 | Pretty good album, not sure why this is considered emo by some, also not sure why this reminded me of elvis... but yeah. Pretty good early post-hardcore. | Bandcamp Link |

This Town Needs Guns | Animals | Lemur | Math Rock, Indie, emo-adjacent | 2008 | Honestly this album is really consistant, its hard to pinpoint what the "Best" song is. But I'll just place that on Lemur for now. | Bandcamp Link |
Korea Girl | The Complete Discography | Under the Sun | Indie, Midwest | 1997-1999 | I found this band through late night internet browsing, someone posted it on an emo group but it sadly is only indie. This band and album still has become really special to me, despite the fact I only found them yesterday. This really invokes a sense of nostalgia in you and reminds me of midwest emo, as well as emo in general. Overall, this band was great. | iTunes Link |
The Kidcrash | New Ruins | Scapel Cuts Concrete | Math Punk, Pop Punk, Indie Rock | 2004 | I'm starting to think indie in general is really consistant, anyways this band reminds me of pop punk but with a more embrasive and filling sound if that makes any sense. Progressive punk meets math rock meets indie rock? Idk, its just the kidcrash and its great. Sounds kinda like Mason mixed with E!E!(IWALE), listen if you want but its pretty good. | iTunes Link |
The Kidcrash | I Haven't Had A Date in 4 Years Goldie Hawn | I | Math Punk, Pop Punk, Indie Rock | 2005 | AUUUGGHHHH ALL THEIR MUSIC SOUNDS EXACTLY THE SAME. | Sophie's Floorboard |
Teen Suicide | Bad Vibes Forever | Empty Room | Shoegaze, Indie, Lo-Fi, Noise | 2015 | This reminded me of Richie Valens for some reason, mixed with My Bloody Valentine? Idk, just listen. | iTunes Link |
ARTIST | ALBUM/ YT LINK | BEST SONG | GENRE | YEAR | DESCRIPTION | DOWNLOAD | Unwound | Leaves Turn Inside Of You | Post-Rock, Alternative, Post-Hardcore, Indie Rock, Indie | 2001 | Sounds kinda like Slint/ Duster/ Calm, pretty good. | iTunes Link |

Nero's Day At DisneyLand | From Rotting Fantasy Lands | Child Protective Services Theme Song | Electronic, weirdcore, noise music | 2009 | Ok I might just be the weird one who likes this stuff, anyone else? Also trust me, NDaD's best song is "Sable Leathery Wings", but its a standalone song. | Bandcamp Link | Deadmau5 | Random Album Title | I remember (ft. kaskade) | Electronic, Dance, EDM | 2008 | I used to listen to this in middle school lmfao. He used to be popular when I was like six or something but whatever, still good for a late night drive. | iTunes Link | 100 gecs | 1000 gecs | Money Machine | Electronic, Hyperpop, Weirdcore, noise music | 2019 | This is music you get bullied for listening to. I still love 100 gecs, especially 66 gecs (Laura Les (because Laura is better >:3)). So I put this here for you little p!$$ babies to enjoy and to tell you guys to LISTEN TO LAURA LES ON YOUTUBE OMG. | Download |
